The Dutch Bros 911 is one of the strongest drinks on the Dutch Bros menu. It’s made with six shots of espresso, Irish cream syrup, and half-and-half, creating a rich, ultra-caffeinated breve that packs serious energy.

If you’ve ever wondered what’s in a Dutch Bros 911 or how to make it at home, this copycat recipe shows you exactly how to recreate it hot, iced, or blended.

What Is in a Dutch Bros 911?

    A Dutch Bros 911 contains:

    • 6 shots of espresso
    • Irish cream syrup
    • Half-and-half

It’s technically a breve, meaning it uses half-and-half instead of milk for a richer, creamier texture.

    What is a Breve?

A breve is similar to a latte except that it is made with half-and-half instead of milk. The extra creaminess of the half-and-half creates a decadent texture and mouth feel.

How Much Caffeine Is in a Dutch Bros 911?

Because it contains six espresso shots, the Dutch Bros 911 has significantly more caffeine than a standard latte. Depending on the espresso used, it can contain roughly 350–450mg of caffeine.

This makes it one of the strongest drinks on the Dutch Bros menu.

    • Espresso Shots: It uses a whopping 6 shots of espresso. Since you'll be able to taste so much of it, be sure to use a high-quality and well-brewed espresso to make the flavor be as good as possible.
    • Irish Cream Syrup: The delicious flavor of Irish cream is what flavors the espresso. You can easily add or substitute other flavored syrups if you want to. You could also have this energy-packed drink with less sugar by using sugar-free syrups.
    • Half-and-Half: is the perfect balance of milk and cream. It specifically makes coffee drinks taste way better and takes them to a whole other level.
    • Ice Cubes (Optional): are only necessary for iced or blended.

How to Make a Hot Dutch Bros 911 Recipe

Hot coffee is the best thing during the cold half of the year. Making it this way will keep you warm and give you a boost of energy at the same time.

    1. Brew your espresso. Measure out your half-and-half and heat it up by microwave, a pot on the stove, or steam by using the stem of an espresso maker.
    2. Pour the freshly brewed espresso into a mug and top it off with Irish cream syrup and steamed half and half. Enjoy!
    3. (Optional) Make it even better by adding a homemade Dutch Bros Soft Top.

How to Make an Iced Dutch Bros 911 Recipe

There's nothing better than a fresh cup of iced coffee alongside your breakfast to start the day with. A tip with this would be to let your espresso cool off completely before adding it to the ice so that it doesn't immediately melt it right away.

    1. Brew the espresso and fill a tall glass full of ice.
    2. Pour the cooled espresso shots and the Irish cream into the cup and stir. Top it off with the chilled half-and-half and enjoy with a straw.
    3. (Optional) Make it even better by adding a homemade Dutch Bros Soft Top.

How to Make a Blended Dutch Bros 911 Recipe

Cooling off with a blended drink on a hot summer day is the most satisfying feeling. The only thing that makes it better is the powerful caffeine punch that comes with it!

    1. Brew your espresso and let it cool once it's finished.
    2. Add 1 cup of ice, the cooled down espresso shots, 1/4 teaspoon xanthan gum, Irish cream syrup, and the half and half. Blend until smooth and enjoy in a tall glass.
    3. (Optional) Make it even better by adding a dollop or swirl of whipped cream. Make it a "Picture Perfect" like Dutch Bros does by drizzling chocolate sauce and caramel sauce on top or around the inside walls of the cup.

What Does the Xanthan Gum Do?

Xanthan gum acts as an emulsifier that binds liquid together to create a fun, chewy, gummy texture. It is specifically used in milkshakes and frozen, blended drinks to enhance that iconic soft-churned consistency.

    Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

How to Store the Dutch Bros 911

How you can store the 911 coffee will depend on how you made it. If you made it hot, simply pour it into an airtight container such as a mason jar and leave it in the fridge for up to 3 or 4 days.

If you made it iced, you'll have to remove the ice so that it doesn't melt and water it down. Either scoop the ice out with a fork or pour it through a sieve with a cup underneath. Similar to the hot coffee, you'll just need a cup with a lid that has an airtight seal and put it in the fridge.

If you made a blended beverage, it is not recommended that you should store it. Icy, blended drinks will eventually melt and ruin the flavor and texture that you had before. If you can, try to only make enough that you're able to finish in one sitting.

What Can I Use Instead of Espresso?

Instead of espresso, you could use cold brew concentrate. There are some that are available for purchase that are strong enough to mimic the milligrams of caffeine that espresso has. If you want to know how to make some at home, check out this Full Guide on How to Use Cold Brew Concentrate.

You could also use strongly brewed coffee. Just keep in mind that the flavors will change with the different espresso alternatives.

What Can I Use Instead of Half-and-Half in this Dutch Bros 911 Recipe?

Instead of half-and-half, you could use heavy cream for thicker beverage, or whole milk or non-fat milk for a much lighter drink. Of course, you can always substitute with plant-based options such as coconut milk, almond milk, or oat milk. You could even try using chocolate milk for an added flavor.

What Can I Use Instead of the Irish Cream Syrup?

Instead of Irish cream syrup, there are a wide variety of different flavors you could try by removing the Irish cream and opting for something else.

The first ones that come to mind are chocolate or white chocolate syrups, vanilla syrup, caramel syrup. Nutty flavors like almond syrups or hazelnut syrups are delicious as well.

There are even combo flavors like chocolate macadamia nut syrup that you could try.
