    • All-Purpose Flour: provides structure to the cookie bars. Make sure you measure it properly to achieve the right texture. Scoop the flour using a tablespoon and gradually add it to the measuring cup. Or use a kitchen scale for the best accuracy.
    • Baking Soda: helps the chewy cookie bars rise and keeps them light and chewy.
    • Nestlé Toll House Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips: is the star of the show. You can adjust the amount you'll add if you want it a little more chocolate-y!
    • Unsalted Butter: Make sure the butter is at room temperature so it's easier to mix.
    • Granulated White Sugar: adds sweetness and makes the edges crisp.
    • Light Brown Sugar: provides moisture and a rich, caramel-like flavor.
    • Large Eggs: bind the ingredients together and provide the structure for the cookie bars. Like the unsalted butter, make sure the eggs you'll use are in room temperature so it blends better.

    1. Preheat the oven, lightly spray a 13×10-inch jelly roll pan with non-stick spray, and set it aside. In a small bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Whisk to combine the flour mixture, then set the bowl aside.
    2. Then, using an electric mixer with a paddle attachment and its bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated white sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until light and creamy. Next, add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Alternatively, you can use a large mixing bowl, a hand-held mixer, or a wire whisk.
    3. Once the wet ingredients are well combined, gradually combine both dry and wet ingredients in the larger bowl. Mix just until combined. Stir in the semi-sweet chocolate morsels and nuts (if using).

TIPS AND TRICKS TO MAKE THE BEST NESTLE TOLL HOUSE CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE BARS

    • Don't over-mix your cookie batter or else the bars will be dense instead of soft and chewy.
    • Use room temperature ingredients to help everything combine smoothly for a better texture.
    • Add a sprinkle of sea salt before baking to enhance the sweet and chocolatey flavor of the cookie bars.
    • Line your pan with parchment paper to lift the whole thing once it's cooled. This also helps if you just want to protect the bottom of the pan when cutting through the cookie bar. Just make sure there's a bit of an overhang on the sides of the baking dish for easy removal.
    • Underbake slightly and pull them out when the center is just set to give you gooey perfection.
