    Starbucks Brownies Recipe ingredients

Ingredients for this Starbucks Brownies recipe

Here are the ingredients to make these copycat Starbucks double chocolate brownies. Scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of the page for the detailed ingredient measurements.

    • Butter: Use unsalted butter so that we can add the salt in separately later on.
    • Semi-sweet or Bittersweet Chocolate: This can either be in a chocolate bar form or chip form. It's going to get melted and make up the batter so it doesn't matter either way. But try to use an unsweetened chocolate so we can add the sweetness in separately.
    • Granulated Sugar: sweetens the cocoa powder and other ingredients to bring out the rich chocolate flavor.
    • Large Eggs: add structure and help the ingredients bind together.
    • Vanilla Extract: is always added into chocolate desserts to enhance the chocolate flavor.
    • Unsweetened Cocoa Powder: is just another layer of chocolate in these double chocolate chunk brownies.
    • All-purpose Flour: combines with the wet ingredients to create a cake-like consistency.
    • Salt: balances out the sweetness while enhancing all of the other flavors.
    • Chocolate Chunks: are folded in and placed on top of the brownies for an added boost of chocolate in these Starbucks double fudge brownies. Even though it's similar to the semi-sweet chocolate chips or bar above, it will be used differently so be sure to keep them separate.

How to make this Starbucks brownies recipe

This is how you can make the copycat Starbucks brownie recipe. Make sure to scroll down to the recipe card at the end of this post for the oven temp, bake time, and full step-by-step instructions!

    1. Preheat your oven then grease and line an 8x8 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
    2. In a microwave-safe glass bowl, melt the butter and the 2 ounces of chocolate together. Stir until smooth.
    3. Add the granulated sugar to the melted butter and chocolate until well combined. Then add the eggs one at a time, and mix in the vanilla extract.
    4. In a separate large bowl, sift together the cocoa powder, all-purpose flour, and salt.
    5. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing the brownie batter with an electric mixer until just combined. Fold in 1 cup of the chocolate chunks into the chocolate mixture.
    6. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly and top with the 1/2 cup leftover chocolate chunks.
    7. Place it in the center of the oven and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
    8. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan before cutting them into squares.

    Recipe Tip

Use a kitchen scale to measure out your dry ingredients, specifically the flour. It will ensure a much more accurate measurement. Also pass your flour and cocoa powder through a sieve first before it goes into the bowl with the other ingredients. This will make sure there aren't any clumps and that everything combines smoothly.

    Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

How do I store leftover brownies?

To store, place brownies in an airtight container or Ziploc bag. They can stay out on the kitchen counter for 3-4 days or in the fridge for up to a week.

    Can I Freeze them?

Of course, it just takes a little bit of extra effort. You'll want to wrap the brownies in plastic wrap, individually or together, but make sure there isn't excess air. Then put the wrapped brownies either into an airtight container or a freezer bag and place them in the freezer. Doing this will help prevent freezer burn from ruining the flavor. They should last for a month or two like this.
