Crispy Brussels Sprouts Recipe Tips and Tricks:

Selection: When picking Brussels sprouts at the store, choose small or medium-sized ones. This will give them the sweeter flavor that we’re looking for in this recipe.

Storing: You should pick fresh Brussels sprouts and store them correctly when you get home. Wash them properly to remove all the dirt before cooking.

Baking: While baking the sprouts, flip them halfway through cooking time to ensure both sides turn crispy and golden brown.

What do I need to make this recipe?

Brussels Sprouts: have a mild, nutty flavor. They’re perfect for roasting as they get crispy on the outside, and stay tender in the middle.
Olive Oil: keeps the Brussels sprouts from sticking to the parchment paper and helps bind the salt and black pepper. You can also use avocado oil.
Honey: adds a sweet flavor and is a bit sticky, keeping the bacon bits on. You could also use maple syrup.
Balsamic Vinegar: has a sweet yet tart flavor.
Lemon Aioli: is perfect for drizzling, the lemon pairs well with the sweet flavor of the honey and the tart flavor of the vinegar.
Crispy Bacon Bits: have a smoky flavor and add a crunchy texture.
Parsley: has a clean and peppery taste and is perfect for a garnish.

How do I make Outback Steakhouse Brussel Sprouts recipe?

    1. Preheat your oven to 400°F, then line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
    2. Wash and trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and remove any loose or damaged outer leaves. Cut each Brussels sprout in half lengthwise.
    3. Place the halved Brussels sprouts in a large bowl. Drizzle them with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss the Brussels sprouts to ensure they are evenly coated with the oil and seasoning.
    4. Spread the seasoned Brussels sprouts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet or roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until they are tender and slightly crispy, stirring them halfway through to ensure even cooking.
    5. Once the Brussels sprouts are done roasting, remove them from the oven. Drizzle the balsamic vinegar and the honey over the top, then mix them to combine. You can drizzle as much or as little as you like, depending on your taste.
    6. Taste and adjust the salt and pepper to your liking and serve as is or with a drizzle of lemon aioli, chopped parsley, and bacon bits.

    Recipe Variations

Add Cheese. Try adding grated parmesan cheese which gives it an even more nutty flavor.

Add Spice. You can top your dish with red pepper flakes, chili powder, or a bit of hot sauce for a spicier kick.

Add Flavor. Mix in some onion powder or sprinkle green onions on top of your dish to add more flavor. If you’re looking for a tangy flavor, mustard is a great addition to your sprouts. You can try different types of mustard, such as honey mustard or Dijon mustard.

Are Brussels sprouts good for you?

    Yes! Brussels sprouts are nutritious!

These sprouts are rich in vitamins and fiber and low in calories, making them the perfect side dish or appetizer.

What can I serve with my Outback Sprouts?

This recipe is great for pairing as a delicious side dish with a main course like grilled chicken, baked salmon, or steak. You can also serve them by themselves as an appetizer or snack.

Why are my Brussels sprouts not getting crispy?

This is because you’re not roasting your sprouts at a high enough heat or they need to move a little closer to the heating element. You can also turn on broil for just a few minutes at the end of cooking to quickly crisp them up.

How do I store leftovers for this recipe?

Fridge: Let your leftover Brussels sprouts cool completely before placing them into an airtight container. They will keep in the fridge for about a week, making them great for meal prep.

Freezer: You can also freeze your Brussels sprouts. Just place them on a baking sheet and freeze until solid. Then, transfer them into a freezer-safe Ziploc, and they’ll last for up to three months.

Reheat: I don’t recommend using the microwave. Your leftover Brussels sprouts will become soggy and not very good. Instead, place them into the oven at about 350 degrees F until they’re warm all the way through and nice and crispy.

Note: Be sure to use an airtight container or you may notice your fridge having a bit of a funky odor.
