This chicken copycat recipe is one of my all-time favorites. Not only is it super simple to make, but you only need a few key ingredients and a little time to make it.

Texas Roadhouse Chicken makes for a perfect main course. Simply add a side of vegetables, such as green beans or broccoli. You can also pair it with a baked potato or a grain side dish for a fantastic dinner that your whole family will enjoy.

Another great option is to add the herb chicken to a bun, put on your favorite toppings, and add some chipotle mayo for a spicy chicken sandwich.

You don’t have to spend a lot of money at a restaurant when you can make this delicious meal in the comfort of your own kitchen!

And don’t forget to pair it with some homemade Texas Roadhouse rolls and cinnamon butter to complete the authentic experience.

Ingredients for this Texas Roadhouse Chicken Copycat Recipe

Chicken Breasts: You can use fresh boneless chicken breasts or frozen chicken breasts for this recipe. If you choose to use frozen, be sure you thaw it beforehand.

Olive Oil: will not only help prevent sticking from the pan while you’re cooking it, but it will also help the herbs and spices stick to your chicken better.

Garlic and Onion Powder: is one of my favorite duos to use! It gives your dish a sweet, savory, and pungent flavor, making it taste just like Texas Roadhouse Chicken.

Dried Herbs: Dried basil, oregano, dill, and parsley are all used to create a delicious crust on your chicken and are very flavorful. If you’re not the biggest fan of one of these herbs, that’s not a problem; add more of the others to equal it out. This recipe is super customizable.

Kosher Salt and Black Pepper: help enhance the flavors of the dish while also bringing a bit of an earthy flavor.

How to Make this Texas Roadhouse Chicken Copycat Recipe

    1. Add the ground black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, dried basil, dried oregano, dried dill, dried parsley, and salt to a bowl and stir to combine.
    2. Place the skinless chicken breasts in a large resealable plastic bag or on a cutting board covered with plastic wrap and flatten them into one even layer with a meat tenderizer.
    3. Add the oil to a pan and heat up over medium heat.
    4. While the large skillet is heating up, dredge the chicken breasts in the mixed spice mixture. We want each chicken breast to be fully coated.
    5. Place the chicken in the hot pan and cook until golden brown, about 4-5 minutes per side or until the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165F.
    6. Allow the chicken to rest for a few minutes before, slicing and serving.

Recipe Tips for the Texas Roadhouse Herb Crusted Chicken

Flatten your chicken. Use a meat mallet or any other tool to flatten your chicken. Another option is to butterfly your chicken or slice all the way through horizontally, so that the chicken cutlets are the same size. This will help your chicken cook evenly.

Use a meat thermometer. Use an instant-read meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of your chicken. Once it hits 165 degrees F, it is done. Keep an eye on the temperature to keep your chicken from overcooking and becoming dry.

Let your chicken rest. One of the most important parts of cooking, whether that be chicken or steak, is to let your meat rest for a few minutes before eating.

    Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

How Do I Know if My Chicken is Done?

The best way to check if your chicken is done is to use a meat thermometer. Always insert your instant-read thermometer into the thickest part of your chicken. I like this option much better than cutting your chicken to see if it is done.

Cooking time will vary depending on the thickness of your chicken breasts, so keep an eye out while cooking. I would start checking the temperature when you notice the sides of the chicken starting to become golden brown and crispy.

How Can I Use Leftover Texas Roadhouse Chicken?

This recipe is very versatile and can be used in many ways. You can enjoy it alone with vegetables, potatoes, and a dipping sauce. Or, you can cut the chicken up and use it in a salad or wrap. You can even use it to make chicken salad.

How Do I Store Leftover Chicken?

To store leftover chicken, let your chicken cool to room temperature before placing it into an airtight container. Your chicken will last in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
