Ingredients for this Longhorn Steakhouse Broccoli recipe

Scroll down to the recipe card at the bottom of the page for the detailed ingredient measurements.

    • Broccoli: is the main component of this dish. I recommend using a fresh head of broccoli or pre-cut florets instead of frozen, as it will keep its texture better.
    • Butter: is used to sauté the garlic and to coat the broccoli. It also adds a richness and savory flavor to your dish.
    • Garlic: adds a savory and aromatic flavor to broccoli. I prefer to use fresh garlic rather than garlic powder for this recipe.
    • Parmesan Cheese: gives your broccoli a salty and nutty flavor. I recommend using freshly ground for the best flavor.
    • Salt and Black Pepper: are added to taste. They will help enhance the flavors of your cheesy broccoli dish.

    2. Drain the water and set the broccoli aside.
    3. In that same saucepan, melt the unsalted butter and sauté the garlic for a minute or two.
    4. Add in the broccoli and toss it well to coat it in the butter and garlic mixture. Top with parmesan and toss again. Taste and add salt and pepper to taste.

    Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

What can I pair my broccoli with?

Longhorn Steakhouse Broccoli pairs well with many different main dishes. You can pair it with grilled steaks, roasted chicken, or even a pasta dish like alfredo. You can also eat it alone as a midafternoon snack or quick and easy lunch.

Can I make my broccoli without cheese?

Of course! For a different option, you can skip the cheese and opt for something like a light drizzle of olive oil or a squeeze of lemon juice to brighten up the flavors of the broccoli. This is a great choice for someone who wants a lighter side dish without compromising on taste!

Can I use different kinds of cheese?

Absolutely! The cheese possibilities are endless. You can experiment with different cheeses to customize this dish. A few of my favorites are sharp cheddar, gruyere, or a combination of cheeses to add a unique flavor. I like to grate my own cheese, as I think the flavor is a bit stronger.

Can I use frozen broccoli instead of fresh broccoli for this recipe?

I highly recommend using fresh broccoli for this recipe, but you can use frozen broccoli in a pinch. To use frozen broccoli, thaw and drain it before steaming it to remove the excess moisture. Keep in mind that the texture of frozen broccoli is a bit different from fresh broccoli, but you will still have a delicious flavor!

Can I make this dish ahead of time?

This is a wonderful dish to make in advance for a party, potluck, or weekly meal prep. It is a convenient dish that can be paired with many different foods. When making ahead, I recommend cooking until slightly undercooked so that it doesn't get too soft when you're re-steaming it. When ready to serve, finish steaming, add your broccoli to your garlic butter sauce, add your parmesan cheese, and enjoy the delicious side!

How do I store leftover Longhorn Broccoli?

It's super easy to store leftovers. Just put your leftover broccoli into an airtight container and refrigerate for up to four days. I don't recommend freezing this recipe, as the texture and consistency will change as it thaws.

How do I reheat leftover Longhorn Steakhouse Broccoli?

The good thing about this recipe is that the leftovers reheat really well. For the broccoli, start by steaming or microwaving it for a few minutes. To reheat the butter sauce, place it on the stove at low heat, whisking frequently to maintain the sauce's consistency. Combine the two before serving and add in the parmesan cheese. You will have a side dish that tastes just as good as it did then it was first prepared!

I made this tonight with our dinner and it turned out great! Might be my new fav broccoli recipe. Followed the recipe and added just a splash of lemon juice. Will definitely make again!

I made this tonight, exactly as written. it was bland, even though i added an extra garlic clove. We added a bit of lemon juice but it didn't help much. Maybe I should've added some crushed red pepper? I prefer roasted cauliflower over this dish.

I appreciate you giving the recipe a try! At the end of the day, it’s broccoli, so if you’re not a fan of its natural flavor, it might not be the right dish for you. Adding crushed red pepper or other seasonings could definitely help amp up the flavor to better suit your taste!
