    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ's)

Can I use store-bought whipped topping instead of heavy cream?

Cool whip will work, however, the taste will be noticeably different. Using fresh whipped cream will give a better taste and texture.

How far in advance can I make this trifle?

You can make it up to a day ahead. Try not to make it any earlier than that because any longer and the ripe bananas may become too soft. The color will change drastically too.Closeup shot of the top part of the trifle recipe.

What can I use instead of vanilla wafers?

If you don’t have Nilla wafers available, you can substitute them using graham crackers, shortbread cookies, or butter cookies works as well.

Can I use a different pudding flavor?

Absolutely! You can use banana pudding flavor for an extra touch of banana flavor but I personally think vanilla pudding is best for this recipe. Closeup shot of the layers of the Banana Pudding Trifle in the glass bowl.

    How do I store leftovers?

If you have leftovers (which you likely won't this is so good!), store your banana pudding trifle in the refrigerator, tightly covered with plastic wrap for up to 3 days.

Can I freeze banana pudding trifle?

No, freezing is not recommended. The texture of the pudding and bananas may change once thawed and the banana pudding will likely become watery. The finished Eagle Brand Banana Pudding recipe in an elegant-looking trifle bowl.

What if my pudding is too thick?

An easy fix is to add a splash of milk and stir until you reach the desired consistency.

Can I add other fruits to this trifle?

Yes! Strawberries or blueberries would be lovely additions, especially since they’re in season during spring.
