Set your oven to 425°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, sugar, garlic powder, and salt.
2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon sugar, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 3/4 teaspoon salt
In a measuring cup mix the buttermilk and the melted butter together to combine. Pour the wet ingredients over the dry ingredients and mix just until combined. Do not overmix.
1/2 cup butter, 1 cup buttermilk
Fold in the cheddar cheese with a wooden spoon.
1 & 1/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Scoop 1/4 cup of dough onto the prepared baking sheet (about 4 tablespoons per biscuit). You should get about 8-10 biscuits.
Bake the biscuits for 12-15 minutes or until they are golden brown on top.
While the biscuits bake, mix the melted butter with garlic powder, old bay seasoning, and parsley. Brush this mixture over the hot biscuits as soon as they come out of the oven.
2 tablespoons melted butter, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 1 teaspoon dried parsley, 1/2 teaspoon old bay spice
