Ingredients
 
 

  • 1 cup warm milk about 110°F
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 & 1/2 cups all-purpose flour plus extra for dusting
  • tsp active dry yeast 1 packet
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter for brushing rolls

Instructions
 

  • Combine warm milk and sugar in a stand mixer. Sprinkle yeast over the mixture, stir gently, and allow it to sit until it becomes frothy, mine took about 10 minutes.

  • Mix in the flour with the salt, egg, melted butter and turn your stand mixer on low speed. Allow it to knead the dough for 5-10 minutes.
    3 & 1/2 cups all-purpose flour, 3 tbsp unsalted butter, 1 egg, 1 tsp salt
  • Put the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a towel, and let it sit in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it doubles in size.
  • After the dough has risen, gently punch it down to release the air. Roll it out to about ½ inch thick, and cut it into small squares (about 2x2 inches). You can get anywhere between 12 and 16 buns depending on how you cut them. Place them on a greased baking sheet.
  • Cover the rolls with a towel and let them rise for another 30 minutes until they puff up again.
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 12-15 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
  • When the rolls come out of the oven, immediately brush them with melted butter for that signature taste. Serve warm and enjoy!
