Ingredients
  

Meatballs

  • 1 lb ground chuck beef
  • 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes adjust for spice level
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup milk

Marinara Sauce

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium white onion finely chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 -28 oz canned diced tomatoes 28 oz crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp red chili flakes more for a more spicy sauce
  • 1 tbsp white sugar
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 lbs Spaghetti cooked according to package instructions

Instructions
 

Meatballs

  • Preheat oven to 400°F then line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a large bowl, mix all ingredients thoroughly.
    1 lb ground chuck beef, 1/2 cup Italian breadcrumbs, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese, 1 tsp dried parsley, 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes, 1 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp black pepper, 1/2 tsp onion powder, 2 cloves garlic, 1 large egg, 1/4 cup milk
  • Form into meatballs, about 1-1.5 inches in diameter.
  • Place meatballs on a lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until browned and cooked through.

Instructions:

  • In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and sauté until soft and fragrant.

  • Add crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Lower heat and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust the seasonings to your likings.
    2 -28 oz canned diced tomatoes, 2 tsp dried basil, 1/2 tsp dried oregano, 1/4 tsp red chili flakes, 1 tbsp white sugar, Salt and pepper to taste
  • Once meatballs are done, add them to the simmering marinara sauce. Let them simmer in the sauce for 10 minutes.

Spaghetti and Assembly

  • Spaghetti: 1 lb, cooked according to package instructions
  • To serve, place cooked spaghetti on plates, top with marinara sauce and meatballs, and garnish with fresh basil or chopped fresh parsley and Parmesan.
