Ingredients
  

  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium white onion finely chopped
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 -28 oz canned crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/4 tsp red chili flakes more for a more spicy sauce
  • 1 tbsp white sugar This helps tone down the acidity of the tomatoes
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions
 

  • In a large pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic, and sauté until soft and fragrant.

  • Add crushed tomatoes, basil, oregano, sugar, salt, and pepper. Lower heat and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Taste and adjust the seasonings to your likings.
    2 -28 oz canned crushed tomatoes, 2 tsp dried basil, 1/2 tsp dried oregano, 1/4 tsp red chili flakes, 1 tbsp white sugar, Salt and pepper to taste
  • Serve with pasta, meatballs, or even as a dip for your breadsticks.
